Mako’s Snowy Hill Farm provides lessons to all age riders and all ability levels. We have the shelter of an indoor arena and the freedom of an outdoor arena. The grounds also provide a round pen for exercise and groundwork.

Our lessons include horsemanship as well as riding. We do not “save” our Champion Paso Finos for pictures! Our students learn to ride on them.

We will develop a riding, training program to meet your specific needs, whether it is for competition, horse training, horse grooming or trail riding.

We have trained numerous students for 4H competition in showmanship and riding, who have successfully competed in District and State Competitions.

Boarding is also available at Snowy Hill Farm. We offer full board at very reasonable rates. As a boarder you have the use of the indoor and outdoor arena along with a round pen for exercise and training. There are miles of wooded trails that surround the farm .

You have the peace of mind knowing that your prized possession is being cared for by horsemen that will care for your horse as if it is one of their own.

Sam and Gail believe in Natural Horsemanship Training thru Trust. Young horses are started from birth with imprinting and ground work. All our horses are desensitized to objects and sound and are trained with encouragement and leadership not intimidation. Once the ground work is completed the horse easily accepts a rider. We also believe in training the owner to handle and train their own horse. Too many times horses are sent out to trainers and when they are returned home to the owners they have the same problems, because the owner was not instructed in how to train and work with the horse.

Another specialty is training the horse for trail riding.
Gail personally spends hours each week trail riding your horse and exposing them to all one can encounter on a trail ride. Then before the horse is returned we stress taking the owner out on numerous trail rides so the horse and owner can bond and have successful trail riding experiences.
All training programs are individually developed to meet you and your horses needs.

   In 1996 after much encouragement from friends Gail started to offer lessons to all age of riders. We have a lesson program that instructs Horsemanship, along with riding. Gail strongly believes that if you are going to ride a horse you need to also know how to train your horse in ground work, under saddle, and most importantly care properly for the horse. Snowy Hill also provides its riding students with the opportunity to participate in competitions and shows.

     Sam Larson has been riding horses since he was in diapers. Sam enjoys trail riding and has competed in classes. Sam specializes in training the horse. He has put all of our horses under saddle, and assists Gail in her training.

     Sam and Gail invite all people to visit the farm to be introduced to their Champion Paso Fino horses and meet them. When you leave you will have caught the Paso Fino Fever!!!

Makos Snowy Hill Farm is dedicated to all things Paso Fino.
Sam and Gail Larson were originally breeders of Registered Paint Horses but in 1995 they were introduced to the Paso Fino Breed by Betty Klein, and the Paso Fino Horse immediately captured their hearts. They have spent the past 15 years introducing the Paso Fino Horse to many clients in the Indiana area.

Gail has been involved with horses as a young girl both in competition and pleasure, and continues to compete in the Paso Fino Show ring, and local competition. She enjoys taking her horses to local shows because it is a way to showcase her Paso Fino’s and educate people about the Paso Fino Breed.

We offer live cover on site, but also work with local veterinarians who specialize in AI at their newly built breeding clinic.
